SwitchyOmega No Longer Be Supported Solution
Today, when I opened Chrome, I suddenly received a prompt saying that SwitchyOmega "# This extension may soon no longer be supported because it doesn't follow best practices for Chrome extensions." It seems that the plugin was disabled after Chrome automatically updated. Another bad news: the Stylish plugin has also been rendered unusable for the same reason.
Moreover, the Chrome Web Store is inaccessible, preventing the installation of other extensions—deadlock.
The solution is to search for “ZeroOmega” on Bing. It is a forked alternative to SwitchyOmega: ZeroOmega.
If SwitchyOmega is currently available, you can install it directly from the Chrome Web Store.# Proxy SwitchyOmega 3 (ZeroOmega)
If you cannot access Chrome Web Store, the installation method is a little bit tricky: download the latest ".crx" file (note: not the zip file) from the Releases page on the GitHub site above. Then, change its extension to ".rar" and extract it into a folder. Note: Locally installed extensions cannot be updated automatically, and they will become invalid if the local directory is deleted. Therefore, the configuration here is only intended to enable access to the Chrome Web Store and install the official extension from the above link.
Next, go to the chrome://extensions/
page, click "Load
unpacked extension," and select the extracted folder to install it
locally.
If you previously exported a SwitchyOmega proxy configuration file, you can import it directly after installation for a seamless transition. Otherwise, you can refer to # Exporting SwitchyOmega config when it cannot be enabled.
